Kano:

In the 1930s, Koshien was the ultimate dream for every young baseball player in Japan, as it was referred to as the Japanese High School Baseball Championship. Taiwan was a colony of Japan back then, and Koshien was also the dream of the hapless, multi-ethnic high school baseball team from Chiayi known as Kano. As a new coach reluctantly took over the team, the team unexpectedly hit all the right beats. With each subsequent game becoming more and more heart-pounding than the last, Kano turned their entire town into believers that Koshien was no longer impossible.

This screening is made possible from “Spotlight Taiwan” project, collaborated by the Ministry of Culture, Republic of China (Taiwan) , Taiwan Academy of Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Los Angeles, UCSD, Pacific Arts Movement and generously supported by Dr. Samuel Yin (尹衍樑先生).
