Description

Celebrating 400 years of extraordinary contributions Black women have made in building America.

Event Details

On March 2, 2019, The 1619 National Celebration of Black Women will spearhead a one-day, one-time event commemorating the 400th year since the first African captives arrived in Jamestown, Virginia in 1619.

The mission is to celebrate the contributions women of African descent have made in building the United States of America through adversity, oppression, and systematic hardships.

1619NCBW is dedicated to educating and uplifting Black women and girls about their ancestors while encouraging them to walk in their power.

The San Diego celebration will begin with a celebratory walk up Harbor Drive and concluded with exciting festivities at Ruocco Park on the Bayfront, including powerful speaker, entertainment, special guest and more!

As the pioneering city, the national celebration does not start nor end in San Diego. The 1619NCBW recognizes that the daily actions and contributions by individuals, organizations, and institutions across the country are part of a larger movement.

The 1619 National Celebration of Black Women believes that this event will show Black women and girls that a new day is on the horizon, and the continued path of greatness paved by their ancestors is boundless.
