As one of the most in demand producers on the planet, David Guetta is poised to take electronic music out of the confines of the global underground, where he reigns as the No. 1 House DJ. Joining hands and forces with some of the biggest names on the urban scene, while introducing some undiscovered talents, another level beckons.
Already a multi-platinum selling artist in Europe, with three chart-topping albums to his name to date (Just a Little More Love 2002; Guetta Blaster, 2004; Pop Life, 2007), his signature sound of quirky, electro, house and dirty pop, is igniting across the rest of the world, where it was kept a club-land secret. Until now.
EMI Music will release Guetta’s much-awaited 4th album late August. It features guest vocals from Kelly Rowland, Will.I.Am, Novel and long time hit-maker Chris Willis, of course. Plus there are others too hot to mention yet. Guetta has also produced the forthcoming single by the Black Eyed Peas “I Got A Feeling”.
His mission is to share the love and connection Dance music is built on while bringing together music scenes that co-exist but don’t often mix – like NERD, Timbaland and Kanye - but significantly, from another perspective. Call it Electro-Hop, R&B Dance, Hip House, whatever you want, but it's the sound that will define 2009.
As an artist and producer, he makes music that rocks the coolest clubs and yet sits proudly on pop radio and MTV. He uniquely and boldly treads a tightrope most DJs wouldn’t dare to traverse too: the line between being an underground DJ and having huge crossover success.
That might not sound like two worlds that go together, but that he won a World Music Award and was voted the best house DJ in the DJmag Top 100 in the same year is a credit to his ability to work in both of these seemingly disparate worlds.
David knows what touches people; playing in over 200 cities last year alone and up to 2 million people at a time - as well as in underground basement jams; he should.
“I’m not trying to be credible,” David admits with a smile broadening across his soft, open face. “I’m trying to be incredible. It’s very easy to be underground because you just have to obey a set of codes. It’s very formulaic. But it’s also very easy to be totally pop, because it’s very formulaic too. I’m trying to do something different.”
With around 70 million hits on YouTube (and climbing fast), David is as popular outside of nightclubs as he is in them. In fact, David’s video’s hold the Number 1 and No 3 spots in the most watched Electronica clips on Youtube – worldwide and of all time!
To see Guetta wind a room into frenzy is something special. Technically David is one of the most impressive DJs in the house scene. Almost remixing records live, he makes loops, slams tracks together that you’d never think would go and uses vocals over other instrumentals. His sets are so dynamic that at times it’s difficult to see how he can keep the energy up. To put it simply, Guetta creates moments.
“Everything I’m trying to do – in my DJing, my production – is about sharing emotion. When I’m making music in the studio that’s all I’m looking for. It’s what matters the most.!”

Roger Sanchez is the eldest of two sons (his younger brother is named Gabriel) born to Angela Almonte and Hugo Rene Sanchez, immigrants from the Dominican Republic. Sanchez graduated from the High School of Art and Design in New York City. He attended Pratt Institute, working towards a degree in architecture, but took his father's advice to take a break from his studies to devote his full energy to DJing and see if he could make a career of it. Eventually he went on to play at the largest nightclubs in New York City, and later around the world. Along with fellow New York house DJs David Morales and Danny Tenaglia, Sanchez has become an icon of the European party scene, especially on the Spanish island of Ibiza, notoriously known worldwide for its hedonistic lifestyle and nightlife. He has maintained residency on Ibiza every summer since 2000.

The 17 hour events at Nikki Beach attract a cast of over 6500 clubbers and A-List DJs and have become one of the week's biggest parties. San Francisco, CA is the world capital of House music and is honored to hold Dj Dan as it's main House resident Dj. From California's central valley all the way to San Francisco Dj Dan is considered to be one of the forefathers of house music in the region. There are many reasons why DJ Dan has been tagged America's Hardest Working and Most Beloved DJ; since his start in 1989, Dan has been at the forefront of dance music culture. Beginning in the early days of the Rave scene in 1991 when Dan would play multiple parties throughout the weekends, ending it at his own legendary afterhours club No-Doz. He has been setting trends in dance music ever since.
In 1993, Dan sought to push the boundaries even further. After a move to San Francisco, he and two friends formed the now legendary group Funky Tekno Tribe. Through an innovative and clever approach to marketing double pack mixes of his live sets from the Funky Tekno Tribe, he was one of the first in the wave of mixtape culture that became dominant throughout the 90’s electronic music scene. This marked the start of the burgeoning Breakbeat craze that Dan pioneered by combining House, Breakbeat dubs and Techno into a psychedelic fusion dubbed as the "West Coast House Sound".
As demand for his DJ skills continued to come in from the four corners of the globe, Dan began dedicating more time to original productions. His 1995 single, "Loose Caboose," by the Electroliners (a collaboration with Jim Hopkins), proved one of the definitive tracks of the breakbeat era. Later, his 1998 classic "That Zipper Track," on DJ Dan Presents Needle Damage, put a fresh new spin on the genre, and his #1 Billboard Club Hit “That Phone Track” (2003) proved a new level of maturity in his studio aesthetic. It is no surprise that visionary artists come to Dan looking to tap into his unique sound, Dan's remix discography reads like a “who's who” in the industry. With remixes of artists such as Depeche Mode, New Order, The Pussycat Dolls, and A Tribe Called Quest, as well as his remix of Orgy's cover of "Blue Monday" earning him his first Platinum record in 1999.
Keeping a firm finger on public tastes and new sounds while rising above fleeting trends, has allowed Dan to remain ahead of the pack over the course of his career. Playing a staggeringly diverse array of venues and festivals across the globe such as Amnesia in Ibiza, Cream in Liverpool, Pacha in Buenos Aires, London's Ministry Of Sound, Gatecrasher, Fabric, Coachella, the Love Parade, Virgin Fest, Mayday-Berlin, Creamfields, Ultra Music Festival, and SAMC, the list is endless. Comrade-in-wax Carl Cox handpicked Dan to join him on his 2000 Phuture tour of Africa and Europe, while Moby recruited him to join an all-star line-up including David Bowie, Busta Rhymes, Tiesto, and John Digweed on the Area2 Tour. In 2008, Dan embarked on a North American tour promoting his own innovative label "InStereo Recordings", inviting good friend Donald Glaude along for a historic 2x4 DJ set.
In 2009, Dan plans to release his debut artist album entitled "Future Retro". In celebration of Dan's pioneering history, he has created something special with this album. A two part offering in one; selecting songs that influenced him along the way and recreating them with a sonic context of the present, as well as an assortment of fresh new originals. The project is the culmination of all things great on the dance floor, and fuses these classics with Dan's unique blend of funky driving electro. From Mr. Fingers to Frankie Knuckles...Chicago to Detroit to San Francisco and back again. When asked about the album Dan said “This album is a project I am immensely proud of and the timing just seemed right".
