Mission Beach

    Explore Mission Beach

Slipped in between the Pacific Ocean and Mission Bay in San Diego, CA is a time capsule called Mission Beach. Not for the overly particular, Mission Beach is a fantastic place to see a variety of life. The boardwalk running the length of Mission Beach is as much the attraction here as the beach. Here are locals living with a sense of personal expression that evokes feelings of a groovier era. Roller skating, biking, skateboarding, and walking are all allowed on the boardwalk. The boardwalk has Belmont Park, an amusement park from yesteryear. On the beach swimming and surfing are popular pastimes. There are separate areas for each and lifeguards to keep it all fun. Leashed dogs are allowed on the beach from 6pm to 9am. Beach fires are permitted in provided fire bins for nighttime ambiance. What you can't do is have alcohol or run around naked. Down south the fishermen do battle from the jetty. Mission Beach has fun shopping options, tourist stops and surf shops, and mostly relaxed dining choices. The Wave House bar and grill has Bruticus Maximus, an 8 foot wave! For an after dinner wind down there are quiet walks and coves just off the boardwalk. With a little something for everyone, Mission Beach is a tourist destination, student hangout, and way of life.
